Pepper Spray Employed to Disperse Fights at Chaney

Police found themselves forced to employ pepper spray on crowds of students at Chaney High School in a bid to break up two fights.

According to a police report, two 15-year-old students involved in the first fight required medical assistance after the spraying device was used by an officer when they refused to cease fighting. Both students were charged with disorderly conduct.

The self defense spray was also employed to disperse a large crown of teenagers; however, no injuries were reported.

The second fight involved a 17-year-old male student who punched a 14-year-old boy in the face. The 17-year-old was charged with assault. According to a police report, within this fight, police sprayed pepper spray after a crowd of students joined in on the fight. No injuries were listed.

School fights are a common factor nowadays between students, but now when officer has been called to assist and break up the fights and those involved it’s no longer a case of employing brute force in order to achieve this.
