Stranger Sexually Assaults Girl in Her Home

A female minor was sexually assaulted in her home by a stranger after he entered her bedroom through an unlocked window.

The man managed to access the household where he was able to sexually assault the girl whom he did not know.

Just after 6:11 a.m., officers arrived on the scene after another resident notified police; however, by the time officers arrived the suspect had fled the area.

After the incident was reported officers believe that the offender suffered injuries to his fingers and hands during the assault.

According to a press release from the police department, their suspect is described as a male between 20 to 30-years-old, 6 feet tall, weight 190 pounds with a clean shaven face, pronounced nose and heavy accent.

Officers explained that while it is alarming that a stranger managed to enter a household to undertake a sexual assault on a minor, these incidents are extremely rare with just this case as the only reported incident for 2010.

So far in 2010, 18 reported sexual assaults have occurred, which, according to reports, is two fewer than in 2009.

Even though officers believe this to be an isolated incident that shouldn’t stop residents from thinking about how they can increase their safety while at home.
