Police Employ Pepper Spray on Teen Fight

Montclair police found themselves employing pepper spray on a group of 300 teenagers who were cheering on a street fight.

Once officers were alerted to the incident they responded to the scene before midnight at Bloomfield and Gates avenues, where they located the young adults and teenagers who were seen leaving the arcade.

After officers had employed the self defense spray most of the group fled the area. However, a 20-year-old man was soon seen returning to the fight scene where he commenced yelling at the crowd about someone hitting his cousin. When officers asked him to move on, he refused, which soon saw officers arresting him for disorderly conduct.

When it comes to dealing with large crowds, a self defense spray such as pepper spray is often the ideal solution to breaking up large crowds at one time. Not only that, but it reduces the amount of harm that officers could find themselves in, particularly if there are more people involved in the crowds compared to the number of officers attempting to tackle the scene.
