Stun Gun Employed to Subdue Pelham Suspect
As a result of his actions, the 35-year-old man was arrested on numerous charges that resulted from the incident. Police were initially called to the scene when they received a report that there was the possibility of an impaired driver driving an SUV. It wasn’t long after the first call that officers then received a second one informing them of the SUV in question making contact with a stone wall.
While the crash into the stone wall dislodged several of the stones that didn’t stop the SUV from continuing on its path. Officers noticed marks in the pavement from a tire rim and decided to follow its director heading north.
It wasn’t long before the white SUV was spotted which had travelled five to seven miles, mostly on two tire rims. When officers stopped the vehicle, the man exited the car where he put his hands into the air and told officers to shoot him.
While the driver was not armed, he failed to cooperate with orders from police and as a result was stunned by the stun gun. Because of his dangerous actions he was charged under the influence of drugs or alcohol, in addition to disobeying an officer, employing reckless conduct, reckless conduct after the incident and violating the open container law.
