TASER Device Employed on Car Theft Suspect

Police have arrested a 23-year-old city man after he was caught stealing a car following a high-speed car chase and crash.

An officer was patrolling the area of Asheville Highway when he spotted a vehicle sitting in a parking lot in the early hours of Saturday morning. When the officer began to investigate a vehicle chase ensued.

The suspect inside the vehicle drove off exceeding speed limits of 65 mph onto the highway before turning into Beverly Hanks Center. The driver then continued into Patton Park before crashing into an embankment.

After realizing that the car was no longer working, the 23-year-old then got out of the car and attempted to flee on foot. The officer was able to overtake the suspect and subsequently employ a TASER device on him.

As a result, the suspect was arrested and taken away into custody.

Thanks to the assistance from the officer’s self defense device the officer was successful at preventing the car theft suspect from fleeing as he attempted to run on foot away from the officer.
