Man Receives Eight Years for Three Burglaries

A Clinton Corners woman who was in  Dutchess County courtroom explained to a judge how her life had changed completely when a burglar targeted her home and ransacked it. The woman was left violated afterwards.

The judge sentenced the 44-year-old man to eight years in state prison for the three home burglaries he had committed in March. The judge explained to the man that he deserved the prison sentence not just because of the crimes he had committed, but because of the emotional toll his crimes had produced on the homeowners who were targeted.

It’s not the items that were stolen as these can be replaced, but the emotional damage caused that will be more difficult to replace.

Even though the insurance company had reimbursed the lady who explained her life had changed forever, she went on to say that other items such as photos of a trip to Alaska and silver medallions she had collected throughout several European countries she had traveled to as a child would never be replaced.

While most of her sentimental items could never be replaced, she was grateful to detectives at being able to recover a crocheted blanket her now-deceased mother had made over 30 years ago for her.
