Victim Drove Robber Off with Pepper Spray
The 19-year-old suspect was charged with unarmed robbery, assault and battery, assault with the intent to rob, in addition to failing to comply with the sex offender registration act.
The young man first arrived at the Super 8 Motel in the early hours of the morning where he began to use a computer in the lobby. Not long afterwards, an employee began preparing the motel’s continental breakfast.
Once the man spotted her, he approached the female employee where he shoved her into a refrigerator and drew back his arm to hit her. Fortunately, the employee had her self defense pepper spray canister on her which she subsequently employed on her offender.
Spraying the 19-year-old offender the suspect ran away. Officers arrived on scene not long afterwards where they were able to track down the suspect by following footprints he had left in the snow which led to a home a mile from the motel.
When officers interviewed the man, he confessed that his intentions were that of robbing the clerk.
Fortunately, this employee had her pepper spray on her which enabled her to effectively deter her attacker from further harming her with the intention of stealing from her.
