Residents Urged to Make Homes More Secure After Series of Burglaries
Macclesfield Neighbourhood Policing Unit, is warning residents to take the time to check that their homes are safe and secure during the winter months as well as keeping an eye on the properties of neighbours too.
Officers are explaining that many of the homes targeted were due to the fact that a criminal has simply walked through an unlocked door or climbed through an open window.
Police departments are saying that while they do all that they can to investigate the burglaries and to bring criminals to justice, it is also important for home owners to avoid becoming a victim of crime as well.
Thankfully, a number of steps can be undertaken which will make it difficult for thieves to gain access to a home. For instance, just be installing a lockable gate thieves will find it much harder to gain access. It will also make it less attractive for burglars to target a home that has put measures in to prevent thieves from entering.
The noise that is undertaken by forcing a locked gate or attempting to climb over one will certainly put them off from choosing your home, which is essentially what you want. Not only that, but the thought of actually having to haul their stolen goods back over that locked gate will force them to reconsider their actions.
Additionally, a gravel driveway or pathway will also prove to be a extremely ideal deterrent for thieves because of the noise that is created. What’s more, an alarm is a good investment, as it clearly shows that your home is protected.
Of course, while all these measures are ideal at preventing your home from becoming a target of burglars, it is also worthwhile to also have a form of protection inside your home that you can quickly and effectively rely upon should you find your home invaded.
One such device to own is a stun gun. Small enough to conceal, this powerful device has the ability to incapacitate a suspect with instant results. This means that you will be capable of preventing them from stealing from you with plenty of time to call police to take your offender away into police custody.
