Police Chief Says TASER Devices Should be Provided to All Frontline Officers
The police chief made the comment after he presented a report which summarized the amount of force employed in incidents.
In 2010, there were 20 incidents which generated 27 reports when force was found to be employed by city officers that met requirements. These circumstances saw the drawing of a police gun within the presence of the public, in addition to utilizing a weapon and physical force which ultimately caused injury and required medical attention.
In the same year, a TASER device was only employed twice and displayed eight times, proving that this form of self defense was the ideal deterrent against violent behavior. As a result of the effectiveness of the stunning tools the police chief hopes that all frontline officers will be presented with the device at some point in order for them to effectively do their jobs at protecting the public from harm.
