Florida Law Enforcement Agencies Purchase New TASER Device Model

So far two Central Florida police departments have bought the latest TASER device model, the X-3, which has the capability of being fired up to three times before it needs to be reloaded.

One of the police agencies, the Tavares Police Department, have purchased one of the models for the Special Response Team, while the Winter Springs Police Department have provided one to its training officer where it is undergoing evaluation.

A spokesman for TASER International Inc explained that the new TASER device models cost $1,599, while the X-26 models are priced at $799; however, the X-26 can only hold one cartridge.

Unlike the X-26 units, the X-3 models inform the one employing the device if they have made good contact when the probes have been fired. Furthermore, the X-3 can also be loaded with probes that have lines that vary from 25 and 35 feet long, thus allowing the officer to chose what length they want.
