The Blind Art of Self Defense
The class which took place on Thursday saw eight individuals spending the afternoon where they had the opportunity to learn new techniques which were designed for people who may not be able to see their attacker.
Furthermore, those who attended also received a booklet on self defense in braille.
The Grandmaster in charge of the seminar has worked with designing programs in the past for those with disabilities; however, he explains that this is the first time that he’s actually designed a seminar that was for the blind and visually impaired.
With regards to his self defense approach, the Grandmaster says that strength comes from being close to the assailant. As a result of this those who are blind are required to draw their increased sense of touch and feel.
But, if someone does decide to target you, you will feel a lot better knowing that you have the skills required to protect yourself whether you have a disability or not.
