Police Crackdown on Safety Issues

The police chief has outlined his 2011 priorities which will see what is called a fresh night-time economy policing plan in place. While full details have yet to be released, they will feature additional licensing checks, a quicker response time to reports of disorder and violence, stop and searches as well as high-visibility patrols.

The new plan comes months after a survey was taken by the Jersey Annual Social Survey which revealed that 20 per cent of Islanders who are in town during the evening usually feel unsafe while five percent reported to always feeling unsafe. Furthermore, 12 per cent went on to report that they don’t visit the town after dark as a result of not feeling safe.
