TASER Devices to be Employed by Lockport Police

The city council has recently approved the purchase of 25 TASER devices for the employment of Lockport Police. These self defense units will also have audio-video cameras attached giving greater protection for police and suspects involved.

The police chief explained to the council that with the assistance from the portable stunning tools officers were presented with a safer device that would enable them to tackle hostile encounters that would require brute force with a low risk of injury.

He also went on to explain the risks that officers face when they make arrests. In April 2009, there were nine officers who required medical treatment for injuries they had sustained when making arrests.

As a result of those injuries other officers were required to work overtime because of the loss of help which essentially put more strain on those completing the overtime hours.

After the city council meeting the council voted in favor of the purchase which will see 25 TASER devices presented to Lockport Police as part of their protection equipment while on duty. Officers will be able to effectively do their jobs with the help from a device that produces maximum results instantaneously by subduing a suspect for a temporary period.

Not only that, but if the officers should find their actions are being questioned their audio-video cameras will be able to assist them in providing evidence as to the events that took place when the TASER device was employed.

When it comes to officers it is important that they have a form of protection that they can rely on that is capable to producing the maximum results they want, but without the harm involved. Many years ago such a device would not have been possible. Of course, with the way modern technology is and its advancements it wasn’t too long before such a device was possible.

Because of technologies advancement there are now self defense devices on hand that many people have been taking advantage of which are seeing people increasing their safety levels. Police departments across the United States are employing TASER devices to protect the public and to avoid the risk of injury when subduing suspects.
