Student Bus Will Get Students Home Safe and Sound

University students in Kingston, London who leave pubs and clubs will have the opportunity to take advantage of a nightbus that will leave from the town center to take them safely back to their halls of residence.

The safety plan will be under surveillance as police keep an eye on anti-social behavior and crime rates over the next month to determine whether or not the single decker bus will continue.

While a bus is already in operation provided by the university to get students back to campus, that finishes at 11 p.m. As a result, this extra bus will continue to run after hours for those students who continue with their partying into the early hours of the morning. This bus will also prevent students from taking unlicensed taxis home which could see them in vulnerable positions.

Even though the next month will be the pilot period it is hoped that the idea will be extremely popular with the students. The bus will run every 30 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights.

For students thinking about their safety they should also consider pepper spray as a means on defending themselves. Simply knowing that you have your own form of defense of hand will mean that you are more confident in how you present yourself.

It’s important that students have a safe way of getting back to their accommodation regardless of the time of day or night. And while this new bus service will be running every 30 minutes on the days specified, there are still two days during the week, plus the weekend to consider.
