Three Million Volunteers to Tackle Crime

From August of this year, three million people of Rela, the Civil Defense and non-governmental organizations, NGO, will be aiding police as they tackle street crime in India.

Last year, due to the success of the Rela volunteers and the police, crime dropped by 17 per cent. Nowadays there are extra police fighting crime with the help from 5,000 Rela members and the General Operations Force.

And in a bid to gather more help members from Rela, NGO and Civil Defense will be asked to join in. Training has already begun for the many volunteers who will be taking part which will see them conducting patrols with police nationwide once the programme begins this August.

Furthermore, Rela will also work as being the eyes and ears for the government as it collects information on the requirements of the people at a grassroots level.

Of course, for members of the public to increase their own safety and to ensure they can effectively defend themselves it is important that they think about purchasing a self defense tool that they can carry around with them wherever they decide to go.
