Self Defense Cane Classes for Senior Citizens
In Bay Point, the Cane-Do self defense and exercise class brings together canes and martial arts into an exercise program that draws upon samurai sword fighting. Senior citizens are taught not only to utilize the cane as a means of protecting themselves, but also as a tool for hand-to-hand combat that includes kicking, locking and throwing and striking.
In most cases senior citizens who often use a can to walk around with don’t necessarily know how to also use it as an exercise equipment. However, canes have been a source of weaponry in combat and martial art for centuries.
Nowadays, it’s not uncommon to find senior citizens who are black belts teaching other senior citizens how to protect themselves with something that they rely on to get them around town. When it comes to the Cane-Do program it is aimed for those are 60 and over which attracts between 15 and 20 participants each week.

When it comes to senior citizens, what better way for them to defend themselves then with something that they have on them all the time. After all, something as unsuspecting as a cane can play an important role in the protection of someone’s life.
