Are Safety Measures Effective Enough for Women?
But now, with more women spending a large amount of time outside their homes, safety is certainly an important issue that needs to be addressed.
In many countries different safety measures have been put into place to ensure the safety of women is maintained in many industries, such as telecommunication, banking and information technology and hospitality.
Not only that, but with the added security measures of CCTV security systems and police monitoring of railway stations, bus terminals, malls and theatres crime rates should be down in many places.
However, even though these measures may be in place women still don’t feel safe going out at night or having to go home when it is dark. Of course, there are ways in which women can increase their safety and reduce their fear of travelling regardless of the time they do so.
For one, they should try and travel with someone they know. If there are more than one of you your chances of becoming a target are drastically reduced. Of course, for women who work late into the evenings or who do night shifts, there should be safety measures in place.
Many companies have done away with women working late hours and if it’s managed well it is still possible to only have women working during the day. However, many believe taking these steps is not necessary, but simply the implementation of safer practices are the steps that should be introduced.
