Police TASER Knifeman Who Planned to Kill
The 20-year-old had left a note to his family declaring that he was off to find someone to kill in order to be shot by police.
After he undertook an all-night drinking session he then grabbed a kitchen knife where he later boarded a Docklands Light Railway carriage. There he was captured on camera terrorizing children and the elderly.
One 23-year-old managed to wrestle the 20-year-old to the ground. As a result of his bravery he received an £800 reward. Many passengers took the chance by jumping over live rails as the suspect waved his knife around shouting to passengers that they were all hostages and that he wanted police to shoot him.
The 20-year-old had previously attempted to take his life and once jumped off Westminster Bridge into the River Thames. Because of his danger to the public, the judge decided to give him an extended sentence.
At 7 a.m., last July, the 20-year-old boarded the train. While many passengers were able to escape through the emergency exits, a paratrooper, the train guard and the brave 23-year-old were trapped inside.
Officers were able to see what was going on inside the train; however, when a helicopter circulated the area and saw the 23-year-old on top of the 20-year-old they initially thought someone had been stabbed.
When police entered the carriage a police TASER device was employed which effectively brought the 20-year-old knifeman under control and subsequently taken into police custody.
