City Councilman Targeted Twice by Thieves in One Night

A city councilman found himself receiving a call stating that someone had broken into his Boerum Hill district office. When he ran down to his car in order to drive to the office he soon found that someone had stolen his car where it was parked outside his Greenpoint apartment.

One night, one person and two thefts.

Busy filing a stolen car report he was unable to get to his office to assess the damage.

According to reports, however, a 22-year-old male has been accused of breaking into the councilman’s office where he tried to steal two computer monitors and a flat-screen TV. As a result, he faces charges of attempted petty larceny and trespass, third-degree burglar and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

The stolen car itself, still hasn’t been found.

As a result of his experience with crime and the fact that he was targeted twice in one night has made the councilman look at crime threats a lot closer.

Of course, crime is something that many of us live with on a day to day basis and depending on where you live crime rates can be a lot higher compared to other areas. But regardless of where a person lives it’s important that safety measures are put in place that will deter and prevent thieves from targeting what is rightfully yours.

While the councilman himself wasn’t approached by someone that’s not to say it won’t happen the next time. Simply because of this a good self defense tool to consider for his safety would be pepper spray.
