Attempted Burglary Thwarted Thanks to Pepper Spray

A man from Massachusetts who tried to rob a convenience store in New Hampshire may have demanded money, but instead what he received was a face full of pepper spray.

The 23-year-old in question is alleged to have threatened a store clerk when he entered demanding money. However, he was soon shocked to find himself sprayed with the self defense canister instead. Fleeing the scene he drove away in a Nissan with the rear license plate covered by a plastic bag.

It was not until 20 minutes later that the suspect in question ended up hitting a pole where officers were able to locate him still in his car when they arrived on the scene.

Taking the 23-year-old to Parkland Medical Center for treatment he received in the crash he was then arrested upon release.

It may be small, but the pepper spray employed by the store clerk certainly packed a punch when it was aimed at the thief’s face. Not only that, but because of its effects it was able to prevent the driver from getting away which essentially allowed police to track him down.

Nowadays, with the assistance from self defense devices on hand, shop workers are able to ensure their safety if they should find themselves the target of an attempted burglary. Simply knowing that you have assistance on hand greatly increases a person’s confidence in themselves and their working environment.

Not only that, but because it is small and lightweight a person can carry and conceal their defense device from the eyes of others bringing it out when they need it, thus giving them the upper hand in a dangerous situation.

Why is it necessary to harm people in order to take them down when you can easily apprehend a suspect even more effectively with a non-lethal spray canister that won’t harm those involved?
