Residents Asked to Assist Police in Defeating Night Time Criminals
One MP stated how it’s no longer possible for close communities to simply leave their windows and doors unlocked. Instead communities are faced with determined thieves roaming the streets at night searching for unlocked doors in garages, sheds, cars and houses in order to steal what they can.
The warning comes as Northumbria Police attempt to gain control over the increase in crime in areas such as Ashington, Bedlington, Blyth and Cramlington.
Over the past three months, the aforementioned towns have been a target of 80 home burglaries, 129 break-ins of garages and sheds and 197 thefts from parked cars. Around 18 per cent of these have seen criminals getting in after finding unlocked windows and doors.
However, despite the rise in crime levels there are still too many people leaving their garages and cars unlocked at night. In order for them to retain what is rightfully theirs, they must realize that these are opportunities that thieves look for 24/7.
Not only that, but regretfully times have changed and it’s no longer a matter of people wandering in and out of each other’s homes where they felt safe to do so. It’s important that residents change their mindset and realize the risks involved.
One such self defense tool to consider would be a TASER device. This is one tool that many people have come to rely on throughout the United States as it has proved to be an extremely effective stunning weapon to have on hand when it comes to increasing a person’s safety.
