Officer Employs TASER Device on Man to End Standoff

A protester found himself apprehended by a police TASER device on Auckland’s North Shore in New Zealand after refusing to come down from a refrigeration company building.

The man in question had initially climbed onto a balcony of the company’s premises with the assistance from a ladder which he then pulled up behind him.

According to officers the suspect was equipped with a gas torch which he was threatening to employ in order to harm himself.

After a four hour ordeal the man was finally apprehended after a police fired a TASER device on the suspect in question. He was then charged with trespass and assault with a weapon.

Before the self defense device was initially employed there was a specialist team and seven officers negotiating in order to get the man down; however, after this failed the self defense stunning tool was then called into play.

When it comes to situations such as these it is always ideal for officers to know that they have a form of defense that they can employ which will produce the most effective results possible in the quickest time frame.

Everyday is a different day for the police force, so it’s necessary that they have a device that they can rely on for different circumstances. Instead of employing a traditional firearm, a TASER device is now the tool that is often called upon because of its non-lethal function and the fact that it only subdues an individual on a temporary basis.

Without such assistance the police force would still be relying on brute force or deadly weapons in order to get a suspect to comply with their orders. That is no longer the case. After all, why do the police need to employ a firearm in order to apprehend someone who is intent on harming them when they themselves could end up harming the person involved.

The employment of a self defense device eliminates the need to rely on brute force which means that the chances of injury are non-existent. Police, after all, are doing their job of apprehending a person in order to bring them into custody, not to harm them in the process.
