Tourists Targeted in Alice Springs Crime Wave

Tourists visiting Alice Springs in Australia are finding themselves the target of attacks as the region sees an increase in the amount of crime and racial tension in the area. Recently in Alice Springs a German tourist was stabbed.

The town which is located in the outback of Australia attracts a large number of international tourists each year. However, with the increase in racial tensions and violence over the summer months warnings have been issued telling people not to visit the town center at night.

While some locals have left the area others are taking measures such as not stopping at traffic lights at night. But it seems that tourists are in fact experiencing the brunt of the targeted attacks. Many however believe the crime is a result of the fact that the indigenous people are entering the region from other locations where alcohol is outlawed.

A German tourist was recently stabbed by five men in the city center. The incident itself happened at night as the woman was walking with her boyfriend and friend. Another incident saw an American woman targeted by 10 youths who were armed with rocks and wooden stakes. As a result of the attack, the woman had to have reconstructive surgery after the attack.
