Additional $4m to Fight Crime in Alice Springs
The Indigenous Affairs Minister explained that the security and safety of the families and children was the main focus in Alice Springs. In an effort to increase lighting in the area the town council will also be receiving just under $350,000 to decrease the amount of late night crime.
Residents will soon find lighting installed in a number of areas that are considered problem areas which include Melanka’s site and the Bojangles nightclub, in addition to Flynn Park.
Some of the money received will also be going into the Gap Youth Center to help parents during the day as well as to provide additional activities at night for young people. $1.3 million will be employed to assist people living in town camps to move into public housing and $1.2 million for 100 additional indigenous work-for-the-dole positions.
In order for people to maintain their safety where crime levels are a major concern then you should consider a stun gun. This is one device that many people have begun to rely on as it provides the ideal source of protection in a non-lethal way.
