Home Burglaries on the Increase, More than Double in 2010
Statistics from the Danvers police revealed that they are concerned over the increase in home burglaries that took place in 2010 combined with a rise in car break-ins. According to the data, home burglaries more than doubled. In 2009 31 were reported while in 2010 77 break-ins were reported.
The underlying factor for the increase in the crime was blamed on the state of the economy and were often drug-related.
When it came to car break-ins, police were working extremely hard to find the suspects involved while also reminding the public about the importance of removing valuables from plain sight, locking car doors and rolling windows up.
Last year, 60 percent of car break-ins were the result of windows left down or cars left unlocked.
As a result of these issues it is important that individuals think of ways in which they can protect themselves from becoming targets. There are two ways in which this can be done: owning a security system and a stun gun.
With regards to home security every home should install a home security system that will effectively deter potential thieves from targeting homes in order to steal from others.
This way homeowners can rest assured that should they need to they will be capable of defending themselves while putting a stop to potential thieves.
