Reservist Subdues Purse Snatcher with TASER Device
The incident which occurred on Thursday afternoon involved a woman who was getting into her parked car. While she was doing so, a 24-year-old man spotted her open her passenger side door. Taking the opportunity he then grabbed her purse and subsequently ran away.
The reservist explained that he was required to determine the situation as fast as he could in a matter of seconds. At first he believe the woman who was screaming and yelling was doing so to her kid. However, it wasn’t long before he was able to determine that that wasn’t the case.
Running back to his car he quickly retrieved his TASER device which he keeps in his car for self defense purposes while out running late. Grabbing his unit he than ran off in hot pursuit of the suspect.
About a minute into the pursuit the reservist threatened the suspect that he would employ his self defense device if he didn’t stop. Delivering a warning that he was about to utilize it, the suspect failed to stop and continued running.
As a result, the Marine reservist then utilized his stunning tool which hit the suspect in the back. He then held down the suspect until officers arrived a short while later.
The 24-year-old then explained that he only wanted money for some food. In reply, the reservist said that he should have asked for some money instead of snatching the woman’s purse.
And means that law abiding citizens can quickly see their purses or other items of value returned to them.
