Police Employ TASER Device to Stop Man from Stabbing Himself

Victoria police have reported that they were required to employ a TASER device on a man who was threatening to stab himself outside the city’s courthouse.

Police were required to close down traffic outside the Victoria courthouse as officers negotiated with the 51-year-old man. Before the suicide attempt the man had appear at a hearing prior to the event.

When officers arrived on the scene it soon became clear that the man had been stabbing himself with a 20-inch blade. As a result of the risk the man posed to himself and those around him officers utilized a self defense TASER device on the man which soon saw him dropping the knife.

He was then taken away to Victoria General Hospital where he received treatment.

When it comes to preventing suicide attempts the employment of a device that can quickly resolve a situation is most required. Not only does it stop police from having to use brute force which could essentially result in further harm, but it also means that officers can gain control of a situation in a quicker time frame, thus eliminating possible harm to those involved.

While not everyone may agree with the use of these self defense tools there are many people across the United States who are employing them in order to increase their protection. After all, they provide the perfect defense device. They allow a person to protect themselves from a threatening situation while also eliminating any potential harm coming to the individual targeted.

Police departments who employ TASER devices as part of their protective equipment do so knowing that they will be able to defend the public from harm. It also means that they can effectively put a stop to a person who may be attempting to harm themselves which has certainly proved successful in the past and will continue to do so in the future.
