Machete Wielding Man Apprehended by Police Stun Gun

Deputies in Flagler County, Florida, found themselves up against an intoxicated man who was wielding a machete. After refusing to drop his weapon a police stun gun was employed on the man to prevent him from harming himself and police attending the scene.

According to authorities they were call to the scene where the 25-year-old man was located after reporting that he was shot in the head. However, when emergency workers arrived he refused their treatment.

He then became hostile towards police after they arrived on scene where they found the intoxicated man holding an 18-inch machete. Ordering the man to drop the weapon he refused and continued to approach them.

As a result of his combative actions he was then apprehended by a stun gun which saw him falling to the ground allowing officers to take him away into police custody. When he was taken to Florida Hospital Flagler he refused treatment.

With the assistance from a police self defense device officers were able to effectively put a stop to the man who proved a threat to the officers and to himself. When it comes to situations such as this quick action is required in order to achieve the best results possible.

Previously, officers may have been forced to employ a firearm which came with the added risk of bodily harm. Now that officers have extended their police protective equipment they can instead utilize a non-lethal weapon on a suspect knowing that while they do so they won’t be harming the person targeted.

Knowing that more officers are been authorised to employ stun guns for their safety and the safety of the public means that residents and the police themselves can remain confident that they will be able to effectively handle different situations.

Gaining control of a situation is a necessary requirement in order to end a potentially dangerous situation and now officers are able to do so. The role of an officer is not to harm a suspect, but to apprehend them in order to take them away into police custody.

After all, without the use of stun guns officers would still be relying on traditional firearms which is not the way forward to apprehending a suspect.
