TASER Devices Helps to Save Officer from Serious Harm

Police in Eastern Waikato believe that the employment of a TASER device prevented serious injury to one of its officers who was confronted by a group of men in the Thames area.

According to police the officer was called to an area to respond to an incident in the early hours of the morning where he was threatened by three men. One of the men tried to attack the officer; however after he employed his self defense device he was able to prevent an attack from occurring.

The officer then retreated back to his vehicle while the two other men then threw various items at him. Following the best practice policy when it comes to police safety the officer took it upon himself to remove himself from the situation while he waiting for back-up from Thames station.

While the officer waited for police assistance he noticed the original offender waiting outside the station with a metal bar. Shortly afterwards the offender left, but was later found and arrested by police at his home address.

The fact that the officer had a TASER weapon on hand enabled him to prevent the three men from attacking him. Not only that, but it also prevented any injury to the offender as well. If another weapon had been employed this would not have been the case.

As the officer was alone when he was confronted by the three men and communication failed as a result then the use of the stunning device was required. This, after all, is exactly the type of situation that such a self defense device is required.

Furthermore, as the offender was also armed with a weapon this could have harmed the officer if he did not have access to a TASER device as part of his protection equipment.

With the assistance from a stunning device officers are now able to perform their duties to the best of their abilities without having to worrying about the risks involved that other devices would present.

In this day and age it is necessary for police departments to have an array of units on hand that will protect them and those they are targeting. Since the creation of TASER devices there are numerous police departments who are seeing the benefits of having these tools on hand as part of police equipment.

This situation where the officer was able to protect himself from three threatening men proves that these devices are ideal when it comes to boosting a person’s protection.
