Officers Employ Stun Gun On Man Who Bites Officers

Two DeLand officers in Florida had to be treated for human bites they suffered at the hands of a man they were attempting to arrest whom they believed was acting in a suspicious manner in the areas of Euclid and Clara avenues.

The 31-year-old suspect was also checked out before being transferred to jail in Daytona Beach. As a result of his actions he faces one count for resisting arrest with violence and two counts of battery on an officer.

According to police the man in question was attempting to hide from officers. When they tried to bring him into police custody he fought back and bit them both. Once additional officers were called to the scene they assisted in apprehending the 31-year-old by employing a self defense stun gun on him.

In a situation like this it is necessary for officers to have a device that they can employ that won’t harm the person targeted. Even though non-lethal stunning tools have been around for many years it is only now that police departments are turning their attention to them on a regular basis.

The simple reason being that they provide the required protection and defense to officers and members of the public against those who are intent on causing harm.
