Southeast Indiana Sees Home Burglaries becoming More Persistent
Dearborn County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a burglary at a home which had taken place during the day time.
A neighbor was able to tell authorities that when she was taking her son to school she noticed a suspicious vehicle in the area. Later that day her neighbor’s house was broken into.
Officers are reminding residents about the importance of making sure that their windows and doors are locked and that they have safety measures put into place. Simply measures such as installing a good security alarm, security lights, owning a stun gun and keeping doors and windows closed can all assist at deterring a potential thief from striking your home.
Additionally, police are asking residents to report anything they believe may be suspicious so that they can respond in a timely manner before burglars have the chance to get away with their stolen goods.
Looking out for neighbors is also a good way of building on community relationships which can often fall to the wayside due in part to people’s busy lives. But by taking the time to keep an eye out for those you live next door to can greatly improve relationships and a sense of community bonding. These measures can all help at preventing thieves from targeting a home if they know that concealed neighbors may be watching them.
