Handcuffed Man Who Runs from Police is Subdued with a TASER Device

According to reports, a 36-year-old man who was wanted for not returning to Northampton County Prison after being let out to attend work was apprehended by a police TASER device. He had initially been serving a five-month, 28-day to 12-month sentence which included obstructing police, driving after imbibing, criminal mischief and attempted theft.

Nazareth police responded to a 911 hangup call where officers located the missing man and arrested him. At the time of his arrest it is alleged that he was in possession of a metal crack pipe.

While the suspect was being escorted from the building he managed to escape from two officers as they attempted to put him in the back of the patrol car. He was then chased down the street at which point an officer fired a TASER device at the offender.

The first attempt missed its aim, but it wasn’t long before officers were able to catch up with the man who was still handcuffed. The second attempt at apprehending the 36-year-old found its target which enabled police to take the man away into police custody without any further incident.

The employment of the self defense device was required in this situation as it provided the best means of subduing an individual who was intent on escaping from police any way possible. In order for them to gain control of the situation and to bring the man into police custody a device that is able to deliver the best results was needed.

These days it’s not uncommon to see police with TASER weapons as part of their personal equipment. The simple reason for this is that police departments are realizing the benefits that the tools present to its officers in their line of duty.

One of which is that officers are able to spend more time on the streets protecting the lives of innocents instead of recovering at home from an injury sustained while on the job.

Since police departments have introduced TASER devices to its officers they have noted a drastic decline in the number of injuries reported. All of which points to the fact that having such a device on hand is essential to police and public safety when it comes to tackling suspects.
