Man Who Refuses to Leave School Classroom is Subdued by Police TASER Device
The incident which took place in the afternoon saw teachers at Guilford Middle School witness a man they believed was acting suspiciously. When officers arrived on scene they explained that the man had been pacing near the school’s campus.
According to police the man walked on to the school campus where he then went inside the building through a hallway door. When teachers confronted the man he refused to stop or respond to their inquiries.
Officers explained that the man then continued to walk down a hall before entering a 7th grade classroom that had a teacher with twenty students inside. When the teacher then confronted the man he pushed her aside pointing to the students.
The School Resource Officer then arrived in the classroom and told the students and teacher to leave. Once the students and teacher were away from potential harm the officer then confronted the 24-year-old; however, when he refused to listen to the officer’s commands, he was apprehended with a TASER device.
Even though the 24-year-old was not armed he didn’t have any known connection to the school. As a result, and with school shootings at the forefront in many people’s minds, officers were not taking any chances when it came to apprehending the man.
In order to do so effectively they required the assistance from a self defense device that would produce the necessary results required without harming the students and teachers involved. A TASER weapon proved to be the only choice available that delivered the results needed.
