Man Involved in Crash is Apprehended by Police TASER

Police in Trotwood were required to employ a self defense TASER device on a man after he caused numerous car crashes that saw one car overturn trapping two occupants inside.

The man, aged between 25 to 30 years of age was taken a hospital because of his mental state and to receive treatment for the scrapes he obtained while wrestling with officers. The two females trapped inside their car were also transferred to the hospital; however, none of their injuries were life-threatening. The first driver that was struck didn’t need hospital treatment.

The incident saw the man driving his truck which rear-ended a vehicle that was traveling in the same direction. The truck then went left and passed the car it had struck. Cutting back into traffic the male driver then hit a second vehicle, also traveling in the same direction, which saw the car flip over. The driver failed to stop his truck and only did so a short while later because of mechanical damage.

When the driver exited his truck he failed to stop when ordered by officers. As a result of this he was apprehended by a self defense stunning weapon.

While the male driver’s mental health hasn’t been determined officers were required to apprehend the man in the safest way possible for all those involved. Several cars had already been hit by the driver which meant it was important for police to arrest the driver before he hit anybody else.

In this day and age it is necessary that officers have personal protective equipment that will help them out in any situation they find themselves in. Whereas firearms were once the norm that is no longer the case. There are many police departments which are seeing the benefits of permitting their officers with TASER devices while they are on the front line.

Without the assistance from these tools officers would still be sustaining injuries while on duty which would essentially mean more time off the streets tackling issues such as car crashes and violent attacks on innocent victims.

Protecting the lives of the public is important which is why it’s necessary for officers to have a device they can rely on to assist them in their line of duty.
