Foot Chase Comes to an End After Police Employ TASER on Suspect

A man from Syracuse, N.Y., was arrested for drug possession after officers apprehended him with the assistance of a TASER device that brought a foot chase to an end.

Officers had originally stopped the 25-year-old man where they conducted a search of the front passenger seat. However, while they were doing this the man managed to break away which commenced a foot chase.

The chase which lasted around five minutes saw a state trooper following the man into the woods. During the chase the suspect threw an object away. Once in police custody, police managed to retrieve the discarded object as 105 grams of cocaine, worth a street value around $11,000.

Thanks to the assistance from the police TASER weapon, officers were able to bring an individual with the intent to sell the drugs, into police custody.

When it comes to a police chase it is necessary for officers to have a device on hand that they can quickly employ on a fleeing suspect. While the employment of a firearm may be used there comes the risk of harm in doing so.

In order to avoid any harm, a self defense weapon such as a TASER device is the suitable alternative for police assistance. Achieving the same results of apprehending a suspect, it does so without the harm involved.

This means that police will be able to spend more time on the streets protecting members of the public as they tackle crime instead of recovering from injuries sustained while on the job.
