Police Employ Pepper Spray on Suspects
The three suspects aged between 22 and 27 years of age were charged with a number of offenses, such as assault of a public servant, possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana, evading and resisting arrest and interfering with the duties of a public servant.
According to a statement, police responded to a location in order to assist investigators with a Crimestoppers follow up investigation. Once there, one of the suspects was apprehended by police after trying to run away and evade arrest.
It was then that the suspect’s brother jumped on an officer yelling at them to let his brother go. As a result of his actions he was sprayed in the face with the self defense pepper spray. A second suspect was also apprehended by the powerful spray.
Instead of applying brute force to a situation such as this they opted for a more safer option that would have resulted in no harm to everyone involved. The only way in which this could have been achieved was with the assistance from a self defense spray canister such as pepper spray.
After all, when an officer is called to a scene to respond to a situation they don’t want to harm the person involved which may see them first being transported to hospital. Instead they want to assess the situation in order to gain control over an event that will see them transporting the suspects involved into police custody.
