Attacking Dog is Apprehended with Stun Gun
The animal control warden was called to a location after reports came in that a large black dog was seen chasing postal workers as they tried to deliver mail in the area.
As a result of the dogs actions the post officer had ceased to deliver mail to the neighborhood because the dog would chase the postman as he attempted to get the mail to the addresses around the block.
When the animal control warden arrived at the address in question he states that he could hear a dog barking and jumping up and down. Because of this he then moved to the yard because he realized the dog was big.
As soon as the homeowner had open the door though, the dog shot out and hurtled towards the animal control warden. Biting the pant of his left leg the dog tore the pant and brought the warden to the ground.
However, before the dog had a change to harm him further, the warden employed his self defense stun gun on the dog, which temporarily subdued the dog.
While the dog was down, the owner attempted to pick the dog up, but the mix breed was able to gain its strength where it tried to run. Before it could do so the warden employed his stunning tool a second time to detain the dog and safely bring it away to the Sebastian County Humane Society.
Coming up against a violate animal is never a good thing as the actions of them can never be determined. This is why, it’s important for postal workers to think more about how they can better defend themselves against the possibility of such an attack while they deliver their mail to the hundreds of homes on their rounds.
