Programs in Crime Prevention Receive Monetary Boost
Money will be split between the Bamboo Shield, The Night Safety Course, Edmonton Drug Treatment Court and Transition Housing for High-Risk Offenders; however, the majority of the money will be allocated to Bamboo Shield.
Bamboo Shield will received $1.4-Million, which will be given through the Alberta Somali Community Centre and the Edmonton City Centre Church Cooperation.
The main objective of the projects is to provide assistance to the Somali youth, support for people who have been sexually exploited, repeat sexual or violent offenders and support with transitional housing.
It will also give treatment to offenders who undertake crimes so that they can support their addictions.
While the money allocated is a step in the right direction at reducing the amount of crime in an area, individuals shouldn’t be complacent when it comes to their own well being. After all, there are still ways in which they can further defend themselves by taking the necessary steps to do so.
One such way is for people to purchase a TASER device. This is the perfect tool to have on hand as it delivers the maximum protection necessary when required. Not only that, but it is also employed by many police departments who have come to understand the benefits involved of using these tools for police duty.
When these tools were designed they were created with safety in mind. This means that unlike a firearm owners of a TASER weapon are more likely to use it for added protection because they know the risks involved in doing so are eliminated.
Essentially, a self defense device does all the work for a person as it is no longer necessary to employ brute force in order to defend yourself which could see either person involved getting hurt.
