Police Apprehend Man Impersonating Officer with TASER
According to police the man in question was seen at the Airways Mall in Calgary where he was showing a badge in order to get people to believe that he was an officer. Many though who saw him said he wasn’t convincing in his role and that he wasn’t wearing a uniform.
To many people present he looked scruffy and when a real officer attempted to talk to him he walked away. As a result the officer placed the 45-year-old under arrest for impersonating an officer. However, when the man resisted he went into an adult video store for refuge.
When the officer followed him the man turned violent after the officer tried to arrest him. This then saw the officer deploy his TASER device in order to gain control of the man and to prevent any harm coming to those involved.
Simply knowing that officers have a wide range of personal protective devices on hand to employ should they require them in any circumstance gives them the confidence they need and the self-assurance that they won’t be harming anyone they target.
The motives involved for the 45-year-old to impersonate a police officer have not been determined. According to police, the man who is known to police wasn’t clear about his motives.
But, regardless of the man’s intentions it was important that police responded in a timely manner when the scene was reported to them. Even though the man in question turned violent after police tried to arrest him, neither the officer or the man were harmed.
The quick employment of the TASER device prevents the need for brute force in situations such as this, which means that more energy can be spent on tackling crime instead tackling suspects to the ground.
