Stun Gun Employed During Arrest for Intoxication
Police in the area were called to a drunken disturbance which saw two men at the center of the incident in question located in Tignish.
According to police, when an officer attempted to arrest one of the intoxicated men, the suspect began to fight back while the second man at the scene jumped in to aid his drunk buddy.
Shortly afterwards, a second RCMP officer arrived on scene which subsequently saw the two suspects being taken away into custody after the employment of the police stun gun.
Nowadays, it’s not uncommon to see officers equipped with a range of personal protective devices while they are on duty. The simple reason being is that these tools offer the vital protection that many officers want when it comes to protecting themselves in a non-lethal manner, but also still being able to apprehend those who are intent on harming others.
Not only that, but utilizing a stun gun for someone’s protection is a much better method of safety compared to a firearm. Whereas a firearm comes with a high risk factor, stunning tools don’t. It’s no longer a case of employing brute force in order to get a suspect into police custody, which in itself brings a number of risks too.
