Additional Police Assigned to Nightlife Hot Spots

Throughout the summer weekends there will be an extra 15 to 25 Seattle police on the streets in areas that are deemed as nightlife zones.

The reason for this is to ensure that the right people are in the right place at the right time to tackle problems that might arise out of nighttime activities. However, by doing so, the police department has made it clear that they won’t be sacrificing any current missions that the department is doing.

The patrols will begin at the weekend and will continue on until September. In order to maximize police work and to get the most of it the new patrol police will find themselves assigned to two different areas at any given time and will be expected to rotate throughout the city.

A few of the areas that will experience a rise in the number of police will include Belltown, Capitol Hill, in addition to the University District. Where there is a high number of people, there will be extra policing going on.

Where there is a lot of activity, more police will be stationed in order to make sure that everyone is able to have a good time without the worry of experiencing trouble or being targeted.

The focus is due in part because of the Seattle Nightlife Initiative, which according to police, is aimed at boosting public safety, increasing urban vibrancy and improving the local economy. Those assigned to the new patrol will be personnel from resources such as SWAT members, anti-crime teams and traffic officers.

Of course, those who are concerned when it comes to their safety should think about ways in which they can increase it. One way that many people are doing this is with the help from a non-lethal self defense device such as a stun gun.
