Police Employ Stun Gun on Man with Knife

Police were called to a John Lewis store located in the Harlequin Centre, Watford where they apprehended a man with a stun gun who was armed with a knife.

According to police, they subdued the man who had stabbed himself for his own safety and to prevent any other injuries occurring. No one else was injured during the incident.

A spokesman for Hertfordshire Police explained that police employed the self defense device for his own safety where he was then airlifted to hospital for treatment of his stab wounds.

Before being airborne the man was quickly treated and stabilized.

It’s not known why the man initially walked into the store with the knife; however, with the rapid response from police and the assistance from the police stun gun they were able to effectively bring the situation under control in a relatively short period of time.

In this day and age it’s not uncommon for police to have a wide range of self defense tools on hand. This allows them to have a broader range of devices to employ depending on the situation at hand.

Now that many police departments are turning their attention to stunning units police are able to efficiently handle a situation in a short period of time without the use of brute force. This means that more police time is spent on the streets tackling crime instead of taking time off to recover from injuries they may have sustained while on duty.

Not only are police departments seeing the benefits of stun guns for added protection, but so are members of the public. In order to find measures in which they can safely and effectively increase their protection they are turning their attention to them.

In today’s society it is not just police that need a device that they can rely on that will protect them, but also the general public.

Designed to defend a person, but only to hinder a target for a short period it is protecting the individuals involved while preventing any harm coming to the person employing the device in the first place.
