Police Employ TASER Device on ATM Robbery Suspect
The man in question was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, resisting arrest, felony assault and possession of narcotics.
According to police, the 29-year-old approached and assaulted two women as they were using the ATM. With an unknown weapon the suspect then struck one of the women in the head and the second in the face before fleeing away with $400.
As a result of their injuries both women were taken to a nearby hospital.
When police were patrolling the area they saw a man, later identified as the 29-year-old man, looking into vehicles. After a quick check, police realized that he fit the description of the suspect involved in the ATM robbery.
The officer who had taken the robbery report, stopped the man to look further into the situation and to see what was at hand.
When the suspect realized what was happening, he tried to get away on foot. During a struggle which ensued between officers and the man, police deemed it necessary to employ a TASER device in order to apprehend the man and to bring him into police custody.
After officers had searched him they found narcotics in his possession. Once officers had interviewed him they found out that he was the man involved in the ATM robbery at Bank of America.
Nowadays, it’s important that police have a wide ray of self defense devices that they can rely on that will not just protect themselves in any situation, but will also protect those around them.
Since the introduction of TASER tools there are many police departments which are realizing the benefits of having these on board for added police protection. Designed with safety in mind they will only apprehend a person for a short period of time, which gives police departments plenty of time to make the necessary arrest and to prevent any further harm coming to those involved.
