Family Arrested after Stabbing Burglar to Death

A 59-year-old father, his 27-year-old son and his girlfriend were arrested on suspicion of stabbing to death a burglar who broke into their home at night. The three arrests come a week after England’s Prime Minister, David Cameron, promised that he would protect the rights of homeowners who put measures into place to protect themselves and their homes.

The three were arrested after police found a 26-year-old man on a street 300 yards from their home bleeding to death.

Greater Manchester Police described the incident as a tragic set of circumstances, vowing that they would investigate what happened at the home of the trio to lead to such events. Shortly before midnight, police were called to a house where a burglary was taking place.

When they arrived they were told that four men in dark clothing had broken into the home through a back door.

After a quick search police found the bleeding man on a pavement. It is believed that at least two of the burglars fled when officers arrived. The third suspect, who was taken to hospital, was pronounced dead on arrival.

Last January, Mr Cameron, said that when a burglar steps over the threshold and invades into a homeowner’s property with the intention of harming them or their family, then they leave their human rights outside.

Last week, with a return to the topic, he went on to say that small shopkeepers and homeowners who use a force of defense to protect themselves or their properties would not be prosecuted.
