QC Man Recovers After Dog Attack
Riding his bike late in the afternoon he noticed the two dogs making their way toward him. He explained that as he is a regular cyclist and jogger he has encountered dogs before. As a result, experience has taught him that if he simply kept on cycling, the dogs were more then likely to chase him. But he reasoned with himself, if he got off his bike and confronted them, they were just as likely to leave him alone.
Unfortunately, he soon realized that wasn’t the case with these two dogs. As the dogs started to attack him, he employed his bike to defend himself. However, while he kept one dog away, the second would circle him and bite him from behind.
As the 63-year-old was turning around he became dizzy and fell to the ground. Getting up, he soon fell back down and stayed down. While lying on the ground, he thought that the two dogs were going to start eating him alive.
Instead, when he stopped moving the dogs suddenly stopped attacking him.
Luckily for the cyclist, two Davenport natives who were in the area visiting their parents had decided to show their friends familiar fishing spots at Credit Island.
When they came across the fallen cyclist they initially thought he had fallen off his bike, but then saw the dogs and thought they were playing. It wasn’t long before they noticed the blood.
After calling paramedics the group stayed with the man, while animal control officers took the dogs away into custody.
In this day and age it’s not just criminals that people need to guard themselves against. Unfortunately, there are also animals that need guarding against. Thankfully, there are numerous animal repellents available that can do the job effectively at protecting a person from harm from a dangerous animal.
Not only that, but as they are easy to carry around it means that a person can have protection on them wherever they are giving them the confidence required no matter where they are.
