Wave of House Burglaries the Result of Visiting Raiders
Police are urging residents of Uttlesford to remain on guard as police believe that visiting raiders are travelling to areas where they target homes before moving on again.
A home in Bush End, Takeley had around £28,000 worth of jewelry stolen after thieves broke in through a window.
During the same day, criminals smashed a back window where they managed to steal a Sony laptop worth £750 and £150 in cash. The damage they caused resulted in £150.
A home in Henham was also targeted the same day, which saw thieves stealing jewelry worth £600. The thieves managed to gain entry into the property after forcing a rear door and causing £500 of damage in the process.
Property valued at £9,000 was also stolen when criminals targeted a home in Ugley.
Essex police are warning residents that burglars may be travelling to Uttlesford and may be the ones behind the home burglaries that have taken place. Police also believe that they are targeting homes they believe are empty.
Because of this, police are urging residents to lock their windows and doors even if they are only leaving the house for a short while. After all, it doesn’t take long for thieves to take advantage of an open door or window.
Another safety measure would be to install a good security alarm system, which will be a major deterrent to thieves. Residents should also keep an eye out for any unfamiliar people they believe are acting in a suspicious manner. Noting down the description of the person as well as any car details will greatly assist police in their investigations.
In most cases, thieves don’t like to be noticed, so if they become aware of your interest they are more than likely to move on.
Another way for homeowners to maintain their safety is with the assistance from a self defense TASER gun. If you should find yourself at home when a burglar invades your property, simply knowing you have a personal protection device on hand will give you the confidence to tackle your intruder.
