Women Feel Metro is Not Safe during Night Time
After speaking to a number of women who commute that found that many of them don’t feel safe when using the Metro in the evenings. In order to tackle these fears, they want security guards to be stationed in women coaches for added protection.
In most cases, the women have stopped short of actually lodging police complaints as they fear embarrassment in doing so. The women spoken to said that they fear travelling on the Metro at night because of the men they encounter in drunken conditions who stand near the ladies compartments making lewd remarks.
In order to tackle the problem of late-night safety, the women want the presence of a guard which they believe will provide a greater security measure among the female travellers.
During the Commonwealth Games in October 2010, women commandos as well as their male colleagues were deployed inside the Metro to make sure that security was at its highest. Unfortunately, with the Games at an end, that service was also withdrawn causing many to fall back on their old time fears of travelling at night.
Of course, while the issue of safety remains a problem for the many women and men who travel on public transport during the day and night, it is necessary for them to consider how they can increase their safety themselves.
One way of doing this, is with the help from a self defense spray canister, known as mace spray.
Safe and easy to employ, this canister can be carried regardless of where a person is, thus giving them maximum protection wherever they are. As it is a non-lethal device it also means that while it can pack a powerful punch to the one targeted, it isn’t harmful in the process.
Instead, all it will do is prevent a suspect from continuing on with their designs of harming you, which is essentially what you want when travelling late at night.
