Police Employ TASER Device on Man who Allegedly Punched Officer

A Fortitude Valley constable received bruising on his face when he and his female partner were called in to assist two officers.

According to a police spokesman, two officers had initially stopped a vehicle when two different men not involved in the group in the car, started to threaten and verbally abuse the officers. In order to deal with the situation as fast as possible, they called for backup which saw the constable and his partner deal with the two men.

When one of the officers tried to apprehend one of the men and place him in handcuffs he received a punch in the face. When the suspect began to walk towards the officer in a menacing manner he was subsequently apprehended by a police TASER device.

In situations such as this, it is important for police to have an array of self defense tools on hand that they can rely upon when it comes to their safety. In this day and age, it’s no longer the case for police to employ brute force in order to get a suspect into police custody, or for police to employ traditional firearms.
