National Night Out Aims to Improve Resident-Police Relationship
Last year around 80 block parties were registered with the police department; however, there were also 40 additional events.
This year’s event marks the 28th year that communities across the country have come together to make people more aware of how they can prevent crime in their communities. As many as 34 million people nationwide participate in this annual event.
Both the residents and the police department realize that this is an important event that brings the neighborhoods together. Unfortunately, with the police force experiencing a reduction, they are putting more force into how they can prevent crime.
In June, around 70 officers found themselves terminated as a result of the budget shortfall. Because of the shortfall, police are hoping that communities will come together so that they can look out for one another.
After all, the best way to prevent crime is to get neighborhoods together so that they can form an effective crime watch. A strong neighborhood has the ability to prevent home burglaries and property crimes.
National Night Out is also important as it provides the best opportunity for neighbors to meet with city officials and police. As a drug and crime prevention event that is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, it also offers the perfect opportunity for people to realize the risks of crime and drugs and the measures in which they can prevent them from plaguing their communities.
Furthermore, it also strengthens the relationship between residents and the police, which is essentially what is required in order to create a safer environment for all those concerned.
For those worried about their safety they should think about purchasing a self defense tornado defense system for added safety within their communities.
Completely safe to utilize, this device is the perfect tool for those who want to increase their defense in a non-lethal manner, but that can still stop someone from harming them.
