House Burglaries Rise by 14% in the UK
Between 2010/11, it was estimated that 9.6 million crimes took place, compared with 9.5 million in the previous year, for figures related to England and Wales. The survey was based on interviews that were conducted with tens of thousands of people living is over 45,000 homes.
Additional figures revealed that crime reported by police declined a fraction to 4.2 million or 4% compared to 4.3 million for the year 2009/10.
Knife crime saw a reduction of 3% to 32,714, while sexual offenses increased by 4% to 45,326, marking a 11% increase than what was reported in 2008/9.
The survey also revealed that thefts of purses, wallets and mobiles from pubs and household items rose by 10%.
Officials want to make the police more accountable so that the public they serve are receiving the attention they want, not what central government thinks they want. In order to get police to focus on the needs of the public, power is being placed back in the hands of the public, so that they can have a say in how they want their area policed.
The survey showed that burglary was up by 14%, domestic violence increased by 35% and a 38% increase was seen in violent crime, including violent crime with minor injury.
Despite a drop in crime figures of more than 40% when Labour were in power, the figures show that crime has declined to fall this year.
Of course, matters don’t help much when the government is taking unnecessary risks with public safety by cutting more than 12,000 police officers.
For those concerned about their safety and for those who are searching for ways in which they can increase it in a non-lethal manner, they should think about purchasing stun batons.
Nowadays, it’s not uncommon to see police departments with these tools nor is it uncommon for members of the public to turn their attention to them either. After all, they provide the perfect alternative to increasing a person’s safety without the risk of harm involved.
Furthermore, stun batons provide the extra length thus boosting a person’s defense greatly.
